The Main Index page defaults to showing nine boxes on the bottom half of the screen. These can actually be called from any page template if required though the styling is designed for the Main Index Page so they might perhaps need extra work. They can only be called once per page.
The boxes are another design feature taken from the Scouts 4 WordPress theme but they have been resized and completely recoded and a third row of boxes was added.
The boxes are all widget areas (also referred to as dynamic sidebars). Each of the three rows of three can be independently hidden. The titles and the border and title background colours are configurable (when widgets are used the widgets may override the titles).
The WordPress default settings are for the 'Front Page' to show all the latest posts. It is always a good idea to avoid doing something unexpected so by default the theme will show a maximum of five posts in the top left box. There is an option to change this to any of the other eight boxes or not to show the posts at all. The other eight boxes are empty by default. There is also an option to show details of the logged in user in any one of the boxes.
